After months of beta testing, macOS 27 Golden Gate is now rolling out to users worldwide.
This release is more than a collection of new features. It further integrates Apple Intelligence, the redesigned Siri AI, Liquid Glass, and cross-device experiences into the core of macOS.
Compared with macOS Tahoe 26, Golden Gate delivers meaningful improvements across design, performance, Safari, Shortcuts, Photos, external displays, and everyday system usability.
A New Siri AI Experience
One of the biggest changes in macOS 27 is the redesigned Siri AI.
Built on Apple’s latest Apple Intelligence framework and enhanced through integration with Google’s Gemini technology, Siri is now more deeply connected to the operating system and also has its own dedicated app.
macOS can create an on-device index of a user’s personal data, allowing Siri to better understand files, messages, photos, calendar events, and other relevant system content.

With macOS 27 Golden Gate, Apple has improved the visual system throughout the interface and introduced a new Liquid Glass transparency control.

Shortcuts Becomes Easier with AI

Natural-Language Calendar Editing
Calendar now supports creating and modifying events using natural-language descriptions.

Notes
Notes adds support for handwritten notes and sketches using the trackpad, improved Markdown copy and paste, and new Section Links.
Podcasts
The Podcasts app now supports video podcasts, including picture-in-picture playback.
The Final Stage for Rosetta
macOS 27 Golden Gate also represents an important milestone in Apple’s transition away from Intel-based Mac software.
Apple is moving toward ending support for Rosetta, which has allowed Intel applications to run on Apple silicon Macs.
As the Apple silicon transition reaches maturity, developers will increasingly need to provide native versions of their applications.
Rosetta played a major role in making the transition from Intel to Apple silicon seamless, but its role is now nearing its conclusion.
